Two Dollar Type 1 Specimen Banknote: Save $4250

Type One Specimen Banknotes can be distinguished by the small oval in the watermark area containing the word specimen in red. These banknotes came from 208 specially prepared books which were given to people involved in the decimal changeover.

Two banknotes of each denomination (showing the obverse and reverse sides) were placed into these books, together with with details of the history and production of the issues. Initially the books contained only the 1966 Coombs/Wilson signature combination, from $1, $2, $10 and $20 banknotes. Provision was made $5 Coombs/Randall signature combination in 1967.All banknotes commenced with the first prefix number of each banknote. eg: $1-AAA, $2-FAA, $5-NAA, $10-SAA and $20-XAA.
